The Covid-19 pandemic has been hard-hitting for so many organisations whilst being a threat to many people's careers. Increased pressures for working parents can leave immense amounts of stress to find appropriate childcare. Whilst companies have been forced to downsize their departments, it is more important than ever to retain the top talent in the company! Check out our recommendations to retain the staff that MAKE your company successful...

Where Possible, Provide Clarity.

Uncertainty about the future adds to the stress of the pandemic in so many aspects, job certainty, financial issues, etc. Anxiety around childcare, working environments (working from home, working in the office, or a combination of both), and the constant changes & small adjustments to the rules in the pandemic can become overbearing for employees. Being clear and transparent in regards to the certainty of the company, departments, and job roles will provide a vision for employees. It's so important to communicate with your staff what is expected of their job expectations and performance standards.

Flexible Work.

Be understanding of each and every employee's needs. Whether it's a later start to do the school run or an early finish to help a loved one, employees' lives can't always fit around the 9-5 working day, be flexible! Allowing employees to catch their breath and balance their everyday lives with their jobs will provide a new level of respect for their employees and promote work enduring relationships with the company!

Respect & Reward.

No, this doesn't necessarily mean that you have to dig deep into the pockets of the company credit card fund. Rewarding employees should go beyond a £50 Christmas bonus, it should be tailored to the emotional needs of employees. Recognition can go a long way. Whether it's small gestures such as a special mention in the monthly company meetings or finally giving the employee that promotion they so thoroughly deserve!

Responsibility.

Show your trust and respect for your employees by providing them with responsibilities. Allow your staff to show you how they can grow and exceed job expectations. Encourage employees to learn new skills in their roles that can put them in advantageous positions for future promotions.
