The FJ Friday Feature Blog gives a chance for our candidates and clients to get to know our team better. This week's FJ Friday Feature speaks with Clare Tack, one of our newest members of the FJ family, joining our Chicago team.

1. What initially got you into recruitment?

I fell into recruiting, as most people do. Right after graduating from college, I knew I wanted to go into either sales or marketing. I was working with a recruiting agency to find a role and they flipped the conversation and offered me a role internally.

2. What are your favourite things about working at FJ?

Although I am somewhat new to the FJ family, I have enjoyed the support that I regularly see. I love being a part of an organization that has the mindset that if an individual wins, the team wins. Beyond that, I love the transparency, direct approach, and value of reflecting and owning mistakes. Also, shoutout to Gaz who has been instrumental in learning the ropes.

3.      What goals do you have for the next 5 years?

Over the next 5 years, on a personal level I’d like to buy a home and a lake house. I am a fan of big dogs so I’d like to get a mastiff or a great dane. I’d also like to travel to New Zealand and across Europe. Professionally, it’s hard to say but ultimately work hard and progress within Finlay James.

4.      What you recommend to someone who is just starting up in recruitment?

My favorite quote says it all “Don’t fake it till you make it. That’s garbage advice. Face it until you make it. Get up. Work hard, fail. Stand back up. Face it again. Do a little better. Fail again. Get back up. Repeat.”

If you are willing to put in the work, it is incredibly rewarding.

5.      Describe your perfect, non-work day.

My perfect day is pretty simple, I love to start my day with a large cup of coffee and trek downtown to play a full day of beach volleyball on the lake front. Afterwards, getting together with my friends to enjoy some food and drinks in the city.
