​​​The FJ Friday Feature Blog gives a chance for our candidates and clients to get to know our team better. This week's FJ Friday Feature speaks with our Divisional Manager, Michael Chater-Poole. Mike is based in our Didsbury office in Manchester. ​

1. What initially got you into recruitment?

My house mate in London was a successful recruitment consultant and introduced me to the industry. I figured it was a good next step for my career to build on my sales experience and passion for working with people.  

​

2. What are your favourite things about working at Finlay James?

The people I’ve met and become friends with over that last 6 years are definitely a key component. It’s also been a great place to learn and develop myself professionally.

​

3. What goals do you have for the next 5 years?

Professionally I’d like to continue my journey into the Senior Management team and take on more responsibility for teams at our HQ. I’m passionate about helping my colleagues grow and progress up. Personally I’d like to explore the world and make memories with my partner. 

​

4. What do you recommend to someone who is just starting up in recruitment?

Don’t overthink it. Trust in the process. Be genuine with people you speak with. Take pride in your work. Remember to have fun!

​

5. Describe your perfect, non-work day.

Sat in a warm climate with an amazing view, surrounded by friends, drink in hand and nothing on the agenda.
