The FJ Friday Feature Blog gives a chance for our candidates and clients to get to know our team better. This week's FJ Friday Feature speaks with our Talent Consultant Emily Brown, who is based in our London office.
1. What initially got you into recruitment?
My family actually! Both my brother and dad work in recruitment so I’ve always been around recruitment chat. For me I liked the excitement of recruitment, have always loved working with people and I hadn’t been in a sales role before so was ready for the challenge.
2. What are your favourite things about working at Finlay James?
What I really like about Finlay James is the balance between culture and results. They have extremely high standards and are constantly pushing consultants to be better, but it’s done in such a positive way. I feel like I’m consistently improving and FJ is brilliant for learning and development.
3. What goals do you have for the next 5 years?
I would like to be managing a team alongside working with growing SaaS companies on an individual basis. And for me personally I hope to be fluent in French and have a marathon under my belt.
4.What do you recommend to someone who is just starting up in recruitment?
Keep going! Recruitment can be tough but the hard work really does pay off. Also, choose the right sector. I feel really fortunate that I get to work with some amazing technology companies and see them grown!
5. Describe your perfect, non-work day.
Starting the day with a slow 5k run then ruining my exercise efforts with a few beers in a beer garden followed by a meal out (Most likely Banana Tree). Then, back home to re-watch Brooklyn99.
