The FJ Friday Feature Blog gives a chance for our candidates and clients to get to know our #fjfamily better. This week's FJ Friday Feature speaks with our Talent Acquisition Consultant at Finlay James and Talentskowt Catherine Hennigan. Catherine is based in our Didsbury office.

​1. What initially got you into recruitment?

My path into recruitment came later than most. I had worked in the legal industry and after nine years realised I needed a more social career where my hard work would be rewarded. In 2018, I spotted a role for a maternity cover for Finlay James' office manager. The company and role both looked like everything I was looking for. I was only supposed to be here for six months but I loved working here and was delighted when asked to do Talent Acquisition following the expiry of my maternity cover.

2. What are your favourite things about working at Finlay James?

The people and culture are great. I have got married and had a little boy since I joined here. As someone who is very family orientated it is great to work for a family run company where there is a great 'family feel' and you feel like a valued employee. I am lucky to work for a recruitment company where I have a good work/life balance.

3. What goals do you have for the next 5 years?

 Personally, I would like to get more into property renovation. My husband and I both love to travel so hopefully we will visit lots of new countries with our little boy. Professionally, I want to help Finlay James continue to secure the best talent within the recruitment industry and scale out each office.

4. What do you recommend to someone who is just starting up in recruitment?

You will have good days and bad days. Keep going. Nothing worth having will come easily in life.

5. Describe your perfect, non-work day.

I am a country girl at heart having grown up in Northern Ireland. I love a great countryside or beach walk with my family and our dog followed by a pub lunch or mooch about some little antique shops or markets.
